2 Retire In Panama?                                           NEWSLETTER

            April 5, 2021  Volume 28

Tomorrow we will be traveling...

...to Bocas Del Toro to explore. Our accommodations are cabanas on the beach. The boutique resort is on an island with private beaches and all the amenities. We opted for an all-inclusive package which gives us all meals, drinks, and 1 excursion per day. We will be close enough to Bocas Town that we will be able to take a water taxi for exploring the city. Our sources say that the party is in full swing in Bocas, and we are going to be incredibly careful to keep distance in our favor to avoid coming home with the virus which will go unnamed. We are looking forward to taking full advantage of the excursions. We will be with our travel buddies Ty and Lyn. We have a 1-hour flight each way from Albrook Regional Airport in Panama City to Bocas. Next Monday I will give a full report with pictures. For those of you who have read my book you will recall that I depended on research from the internet to produce that chapter. We will find out how accurate the Bocas Chamber of Commerce was with their descriptions of what sounds to be an amazing location.

By the looks of the picture in the resort website which I have pasted above we will be at a place ripped from the pages of Gilligan's Island. We know already that we will be on a holiday from electronic devices. Expect little from us on social media over the course of the week.

Last Tuesday...

...fellow author Diane Maxwell had a nice book signing and launch at Picasso. Jen and I were in attendance. Congratulations Diane. Her book "An Expat's Struggle" recently released and is available at Amazon or on Kindle.

March 31st was the official release date of Lyndi Allison's book "The Lines Between Our Stars". It is a science fiction thriller for young adults. I got my copy on Kindle Unlimited and have become totally immersed in the adventure of Jas and Gloria as they travel to a galaxy light years from earth to help rescue the child of a new friend.  While it was hardly written for my age range it is quite good. It would be a great gift for your late teen reader who loves science fiction. Check out the book trailer here and remember to register for Lyndi's official launch party on Zoom April 15th at 7:00PM EDT.

Last Thursday Diane Maxwell, Lyndi Allison, and I discussed our publishing experiences in a live zoom event. The event was recorded, and I would be happy to send a link to any of you who are interested in watching the playback. Just message me.

Sunday services as we move forward in the new normal will be in person at Coronado Bible Church. The health protocols will be in place at the church, and everyone is asked to  register in advance for the worship services. The registration link will give times and describe the health protocols and what must be done by attendees who intend to be with us in person. Join us in person, by YouTube, or on Facebook.

Holy Week (Semana Santa)...

...is behind us for another year. The traffic cranked up really bad on Thursday, and I made the mistake of venturing out onto the Inter-Americana Highway. The result was disastrous. I dropped off a friend at her home on the other side of the highway and it took me more than 2 hours to return to Coronado. The police block off all the turns, so I had to go almost to San Carlos to turn around. Traffic was at a standstill most of the journey. The highway was open with 3 lanes coming from the city and only 1 lane going toward the city. That trip would normally be less than 15 minutes. When we say do not go out we are serious. The stores were packed too. The holiday has been calm otherwise. People did flock to the beach communities and the resorts and condos were all pretty much full.

I am holding over my special offer from last week...

...due to overwhelming response. Each of the authors who I have promoted in my newsletter today have made their books available on Kindle Unlimited. Regular readers know that I am a big fan of Kindle Unlimited which allows readers to read from thousands of authors on any device for a low monthly subscription. Click on the link to get a great discount on Kindle Unlimited. Supporting my advertisers helps me cover the costs of producing the newsletter.

Jen and I...

...enjoyed Good Friday service, in person with our church family. We returned on Sunday morning for Easter service. It seems nice to be meeting in person and in some semblance of normality. Following Easter Service we went to Sunday Brunch with a big group of our closest friends. It is also nice to see that the club is trying to make a return to normal. Easter Brunch at the Beach Club was nice. Saturday night they had a special on Paella on the Terrazas Deck. The rest of April they are having special events regularly. BBQ Night, Italian Night, Mexican Night, Movie Night and Karaoke Night are some of the things we have to look forward to in April.

This week's fan photo...

...is Eldon Spears. Eldon is the proprietor of Gold Coast Brewery. Gold Coast is new here in Coronado. Gold Coast is the only micro-brewery that I know of in the beach community. His place is quickly becoming one of the best places in Coronado to go for a beer and great pub food. Do not keep it a secret folks. Support the great new local businesses.

On Thursday afternoon I met my friend Marc for lunch at Gold Coast and he later posted these great pictures to his Facebook profile. Marc was impressed with the fish burger and patacones.

Gold Coast has agreed to host a book signing for me. It will be in the near future at a date and time still to be determined.

I am running out of original fan photos, so if you are willing, and can share a fan photo with me it would be greatly appreciated. It will appear in an upcoming newsletter.

It would also mean a lot to me if those of you who haven't, would go to Amazon or Goodreads and leave a review. This makes my book easier for people to find.

You can get a copy of my book by clicking the link here, or the link on the blog. It is exclusively available on Amazon or Kindle. Kindle Unlimited subscribers read it free.

Blessings from paradise,
