2 Retire In Panama?                                           NEWSLETTER

            May 10, 2021  Volume 33

This weeks header photo ...

...is courtesy of my friend and fellow author Lyndi Allison. It was taken at Morillo on the Azuero Peninsula. Lyndi and friends made the trek to this fabulous location last week. Having seen the pictures, she shared; I now have yet another bucket list destination. This location is very secluded in the far south part of Panama. I cannot wait to hear more about their awesome adventure.

Last Thursday morning...

...I had an interview about my book with Gerry D on the Breakfast Show at Cool FM 89.3. The station is at www.pbcpanama.com. Gerry's show is in English Monday to Friday from 6am-10am. The link above has an archive where you can listen to my interview. It is in the last half hour of his broadcast (May 6).

On Thursday afternoon I was invited to do a book signing at Gold Coast Brewery here in Coronado, Panama. All who attended had a great time. We visited with old friends and made a bunch of new ones. At the end of the day we had a great day of book sales, second only to the book launch. For newsletter readers here in Panama, I still have a few paperback copies of the book available for $12 including shipping. Just let me know and I will tell you how to get a copy.

When you live in Panama...

...there is never a shortage of fresh fruit and vegetables. The roadside stands are great, and all have fruit and vegetables picked fresh. Jen and I are in the habit of keeping a great supply of both on hand to contribute to our healthy eating.

Coronado Bible Church...

...will continue to have in person Sunday services at 8:30am and 10:30am as we move forward in the new normal. The health protocols will be in place at the church, and everyone is asked to  register in advance for the worship services. The registration link will give times and describe the health protocols and what must be done by attendees who intend to be with us in person. Join us in person, by YouTube, or on Facebook.

A few weeks ago...

...I swore off COVID reports, but there are a couple of things going on meriting report. On May 4th, the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre reported an increase of infection in Panama West. He also announced outbreaks in Chiriqui within the districts of, David, Bugaba, Boquete and Tierras Altas. He stated that the virus is again gaining ground and warned that we must not lower our guard. He stated that if the situation does not improve, measures will be taken where infection rates increase.

The Minister also declared that it is forbidden for residents of Panama to travel to South America, South Africa, Costa Rica, the United Kingdom, and India, due to the new variants present in these countries. People who travel to any of these destinations should not expect to return to Panama.

On Friday May 7th...

...The Panama Times reported that traffic was snarled across most of Panama, Panama Oeste, and Colon provinces as taxi drivers blocked traffic to protest a number of things. Their main demand is the return of a rotation in which cabs with even-numbered plates would drive one day, and those having odd-numbered plates the next day. This was a policy adopted during the COVID crisis that has been recently rescinded.

This is yet another example of how a large group can really mess things up when they decide to mount a protest. Once a protest starts there is little that anyone can do to change it. The government in Panama is respectful of peaceful protests.

This week's fan photo...

...is straight from my book signing last Thursday at Gold Coast. Thank you so much Eldon, Carlos, Glen and Monica for putting up with our crazy crowd and giving us the best food and service. You all exceeded expectations. It is not hard to see why people all over the community are talking about how great your new place is.

I love getting original fan photos, so if you are willing, and can share a fan photo with me it would be greatly appreciated. It will appear in an upcoming newsletter.

It would also mean a lot to me if those of you who haven't, would go to Amazon or Goodreads and leave a review. This makes my book easier for people to find.

You can get a copy of my book by clicking the link here, or the link on the blog. It is exclusively available on Amazon or Kindle. Kindle Unlimited subscribers read it free.

Blessings from paradise,
